Imam Zufr (R. A) is one of the most eminent pupils of Imam Abu Hanifa (R. A) and has a higher rank amongst the jurisprudents of Islam. He spent his life according to the principals of piety and worked hard day in and day out in teaching Islamic jurisprudence and propagating the other teachings of Islam. As he, himself, was having the position of a mujtahid (casuist), he used to work out every jurisprudential problem on the basis of proofs and rules. When a problem seemed to be against the rules and proofs according to his comprehension, he would have a different opinion from other scholars including Imam Abu Hanifa, which has hundreds of examples in books on jurisprudence. Some of these examples have also been mentioned in this article.
