Abstract

“Muatta Imam Malik” is the book of Hadith. Imam Malik R.A was Taba Tabee. He was born in Madina in 93 A.H. His parents migrated from Yamen to Madina. His father’s name was Anas R.A, who was Tabee. His grandfather Abi Aamir R.A was a Sahabi. Imam Malik R.A completed his education from about 900 teachers in the age of 17 years. Then he started teaching hadith in Masjid-e-Nabvi. Above 950 students learnt Hadith from Imam Malik R.A. During the Abbasi Khelafat, Haroon-ul-Rasheed visited Madina. He listened the Ahadeeth from Imam Malik R.A. Then Khalifa Haroon-ul-Rasheed requested Imam Malik R.A to compile these Ahadeeth in the shape of book. So he compiled those Ahadeeth in a shape of book, named“Muatta”. In his Muatta he wrote Sayings as well as the practices of the Holy Prophet as observed by Muslims in Medina. His Muatta is an example of Islamic Law. Muatta Imam Malik is a very important book of Hadith as well as Fiqh. Even all the other Aaemma and Scholars of Hadith & Fiqh like Imam Bukhari or Imam Muslim followed his way to compile their Hadith books.
